Family and friends have recommended resources that can be helpful to you, other widow(er)s, people grieving, or those who have experienced trauma.
My hope is to add to this list as time goes along.
I, myself, recommend these and any other resources to help you process and heal.
Websites
Soaring Spirits International
A great website to help connect widowed people with each other, whether you were widowed 1 month ago, or 20 years ago.
Offers wonderful resources for those who are newly widowed – including a list of things to do for those who have been blindsided. Really helped me!
Books

Widowed Walk, by Gary Roe
Short and easy to read – great for newly widowed people who can’t concentrate! 1-chapter a day devotional style book.
Gary also has many other grief books and journals for those who have lost a child, or a loved one.

The Body Keeps the Score, by Bessel van der Kolk
A little more difficult read, but it helps you understand how your brain, body, and mind deal-with and heal-through trauma.
Available in audiobook.

It’s OK That You’re NOT OK, by Megan Devine
“Worth $1,000’s of dollars of therapy for the low price of $13…It was truly was one of the best things I did post loss. I wish I had found it sooner!”
– a widowed friend review
Available in audiobook
Therapy

EMDR
This therapy helps your mind reprocess and become less sensitive to traumatic events – those events that you see flashing in your brain at unwanted moments.
